Crunching on downchange in 2nd...baulk rings?(post after video)

I have a rattling noise when then clutch pedal is NOT depressed which goes away when it is depresed.

The car will crunch into reverse but if you keep the clutch depressed and take it out of gear then put back in it goes in fine.

The car also crunches into 2nd and all the other gears dont go in that sweet but they dont crunch, feels abit stiff to push in but once in go in fine if you leave the clutch depressed and re-select.

I have the minispares straight cut gear set, minispares drop gears with timken idler.

Could it be the tolerances on the primary gear wrong?

rattling will be drops rattle (normal) gears are probably stiff syncros

yes the gearset is new and replaced the double roller and another bearing. I also lost a detent ball so replaced with a different ball bearing the same size.

Is anyone going to the riviera run with the same drops so I can hear if its the same noise?

So you deffo going in the tangerine machine then mike? Have you tried that boost gauge yet?

Mayo just make sure the clutch throw-out stop is set right. Sounds like the clutch is not releasing fully.

The rattle on the drops is probably fine, they all do that

Double check your clutch adjustments, i find reverse is always the first to crunch if something isnt set quite right

I had my drops set at .006" end float and was told that was far too much so now its 0.0025. Any idea what your idler gear end float is? Is this ratttle new or present since build?

The biting point also feels abit low, time to convert to hydraulic I think. I will check the throw out stop.

The rattle wasn't there before, everything was standard metro then.

How do you set the idler gear end float with the timken idler?

Cant really hear much(great quality ) but at the end of the video is engaging the clutch and disengaging a few times

Car does not crunch into reverse and gears feel alot better now but it still crunches into 2nd, it only does it on down changes though. Does this sound like baulk rings?

Yes a shafted baulk ring will be the cause of this mate.
