100mph, corner as fast as possible, ideally avoid the kerbs, look out for the light board coming off the trailer, tie the car down with plenty of straps.

Its an 1.8 Vectra 16v estate. Sprocket, how should i position the car?? I gather it needs to be more toward the front of the trailer? 1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.

position of the car on the trailer will be dependant on the nose weight. Too far forward and the nose weight will be sky high, too far back and the nose weight will be too low. its like a set of balnce scales.

If possible remove the jockey wheel after you've hitched up and stick it in the boot. I've had one work loose before and it's a paint in the arse trying to unhitch with a knacker jockey wheel / no jockey wheel.

Also mike check your license. If you pass after 99 you may not be allowed to tow a trailer. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

Looks like i should be ok, due to the weight of both the trailer and car being less than the towing vehicle. 1/4 Mile 14.3secs 96Mph Terminal 10psi of boost.

On the Vectra the train weights are all listed on a plate or lable attached to the chassis. Usualy on the B post. and from memory the Vectra doesnt have a huge gross train weight compared to some other cars, the Laguna is even less. However, iu doubt it will be too much of a problem if your Mini has been on a diet Edited by Sprocket on 26th Apr, 2009. On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

Cannot remember what the reason was, but if you have an old trailer with a 2" hitch and a modern tow bracket with a 50mm ball, there will be a major problem. On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

Just make sure you have a chain around the tow bar & trailer just in case of detachment. Better to be on the safe side. On 19th Jan, 2010 wil_h said:

Worth noting that on some licences like mine (although I'm just a nipper!) you cannot tow more than 750kg without sitting a trailer licence. |

Top tip learnt the hard way, make sure you load the car on the trailer with the engine towards the tow car, otherwise you could have all kinds of excitement in your life you dont need! A friend was towing a MK2 Zephyr with a Sierra 4x4 estate and for ease had loaded the Zephyr on backwards. Seeing the underside of the Sierra and trailer as it snaked across all three lanes of the M8 on two wheels is something I will never forget!
