Yeah it is seperate from the coil pack.

Its kind of a very basic ecu (best explanation I can think of) for the ignition. it just converts electrical signals from what I can make out?

It is needed to make MJ work though!

Yes, or not at all.

If it's an EDIS car it will be somewhere near the engine, but not all cars with coilpacks use an EDIS module, not even all Fords.....

I hope not..... but the point I was trying to make (and I've just realised how badly I worded it) is that coilpacks are not unique to Ford and not all Fords with coilpacks use the EDIS module.

Once Ford had got into proper engine management (from EEC IV onwards) the coilpack was driven direct from the engine management ECU, not an EDIS module.

Take an average mid 90s Fiesta and it could have either...

Coil pack looks like the one. Follow the wires from the Vr sensor (thick black sreened cable) this should lead you to it, if its got one. *wink*

OK, so a picture of a Ford coilpack....

But to use for what ??? and how do you intend to use it ???

Ford coilpacks were first driven by EDIS modules and MJ makes use of this so needs an EDIS module but later Fords had the coilpack driven direct from the Engine Management ECU and lots of aftermarket ECUs do the same.

So if you want to use MJ, you need an EDIS module, if you want to use something more advanced, you don't.

So, say what you want to use it on, and what for.....

Strangely I can't quite see the MegaJolt in the photo posted......

Doesn't actually look much like an A series supercharged 1380 road/race engine in the photo either.

Its not a supercharged 1380 in the photo, thats the ford engine rig it came off.

And as posted above, it says in the title "For Megajolt"
