Working up the BHP ladder.

Anybody know where to get said gas in a descent size bottle in the essex area, without an account? The prices BOC and Airproducts charge for rental on a bottle is rediculous.

Cheers guys.

Not legally or safely.

They are special mixed gases so only BOC or AirProducts do them, not pubs !!!

I just got the rental increase and it's outrageous (they say because so many people are now renting the small size cylinder) and I keep 2 (argoshield and pure argon).

A mate and I have considered "sharing" the cylinders now....

If you already have a "proper" (ie, full size, not throwaway) cylinder it must be a BOC or AP anyway.

They will only exchange/refill their own for legal reasons so you're back to needing a contract.....

I went from Airproducts to BOC because the bottle hire was cheeper although the re-fill is more expensive - depends on how much gas you use

they will only fill their own bottle and you will need an account

If your pals with your local pub land lord he might chuck you a cylinder for the price of a refill, that,s if you have an empty.

I get mine from a spirit whole saler who supplies all the pubs and clubs in the area. Be sure to choose a bottle type that is not subject to rental charges.

I heard there was a problem with using CO2 for drinks use - not sure exactly what it was now

I used to get my gash bottles filled with CO2 from a local friendly fire extinguisher company, but Co2 alone is trickier to weld with.Cheap though, and no account charges involved.

Cannot use pub CO2 for welding as it has 3% nitrogen in it for that very reason - unlike the 80s/90s when I spent a fortune on beer to get my cylinder exchanged!

i use a beer gas bottle and it seems to weld ok, just more splattery then when welding with argoshield.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

As already stated Mate, an account is the way to go, and Argonshield not Co2.
I have mine through BOC and it's on a five year rental of about £85 and £30 refills, so you don't have to use it too much for it to become far more cost effective than those silly little bottles from Halfords at £12 - 15 a time.
