I certainly have not seen these pics or heard of the car.

These pics are from Club racing in 1973 of Alec Poole's 1300cc mini turbo..yes 1973...

Outstanding!

Just proving we've done nothing new here on TM...

Here is the forum it is from, a fantastic forum!

Take a look at the Computervision Metro thread to, 880kg, 3.44 FD and 201bhp in 1984... Respect.

I wonder if any of the parts are still kicking around.

Would be nice to see the computervision metro if its still around. bet its sat in some collectors garage somewhere.

There were quite a few "works" metros done, engines by Howely apparently.

One is still used in the USA but not in the same livery. It was shipped to the USA with 4 spare engines built new for it!

Not to have too much in the way of Anglias on the thread, here's a picture of the famous 'Complan Mini' driven by Alec Poole back in the early 1970s. This was taken at the Bisquit Cognac Trophy meeting at Mondello on July 11th, 1971 I believe.

Glaxo Laboratories (Ireland) had an ad in the programme which goes into a little bit of detail on that well known Mini. Did you ever come up against it Gerry ? Sounds like it would have given the Anglias a run for their money back in the day.

" One of the most interesting cars competing in Irish saloon class events is undoubtedly the 'Complan Mini' - sponsored by Glaxo Laboratories (Ireland) Ltd., and driven by Alec Poole. Highlight of a successful 1970 season was a dramatic victory at the I.M.R.C. meeting in the Phoenix Park, when after being left at the start, Poole provided the driving thrill of the year in coming through the field to win by almost 2 seconds. The 1.3 litre turbo charged Mini has a power output of 180bhp, runs 13" wheels with 8" front rims and 7" rear rims, can touch 140mph on the straights, and has an overall weight reduction on the standard model of 2.5 cwt. "

Bit more info:-
'The most demon Mini yet' describes Alec Poole's turbocharged Complan Mini - 1.8 litre 180- bhp 8-port Cooper-S based engine, capable of 142 mph

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I bet they did, an easy 140mph I would have thought, mine does 129mph on a 3.9 FD.

The extra power they had would be very handy, similar power to my old mini with even better grip.

Some idiot 'first time' poster was on here around 2 years ago asking how to build a 300hp A-series, didn't like our answers, told us we didn't know what we were talking about and then used this mini as his proof of what was done in 1969 and how we were still living in the dark ages... I forget the users name - JPP racing or somet like that?
