Im currently rebuilding an MG Turbo unit but have become stuck...

Of the 5 nuts and studs holding the exhaust and inlet manifolds to the cylinder head, ive managed to removed 3 of them. The middle 2 (the most inaccessable) wont budge, Ive been using WD40 and leaving to soak but still no joy. Its a shame my angle grinder cant get in there! Any ideas?

Thanks

Yes, Im getting there.....

Not very sunny swanage

a decent six sided socket a try again, if that doesnt work the try a decent six sided socket a size smaller than they are supposed to be, and knock it on. never failed me yet!

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

Try using diesel instead of WD40... it works better!

hmmm, i got one of them to do on me spare turbo. i planned on heating the turbo up with a blowtorch then dropping some cold water on the stud. that method worked a treat when we snapped a subframe bolt off.

Plus gas is like WD40 but is a lot better as its meant for releasing seized things.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i drilled mine out and helicoiled it. if you do that they will never seize again. its the method we use on our gas turbines as things get hot.

Wish I'd read this earlier! My resolution was to weld a nut to the stud, let penetrating oil soak in a few days, then use an impact gun. Worked like a charm...
