Well, it is safe to say I've had a pretty shit day. I've managed to damage my brand new radiators core and it is now leaking and more importantly fry my megajolt unit :(

Both cockups were my fault too, so I cant even shit the blame onto someone/something else!

On megajolt it was a wiring error on the EDIS plug, my "saw" pin managed to slip into pin 2 rather than 3. I cant find out what Pin two is on the moduel but this seems to have sent 12volts into my megajolt on the SAW pin.

Now begins the process of trying to work out exactly what has been affected. The unit seems dead, it will not run the engine, it will not comunicate with my laptop (it was doing both of these just fine before)

I have folloed the path on the board from the saw pin. It seems to go through R1, R3 then splits into T2 and the main chip.

I'm really hope if just the T2 transistor is fried the U1 chip may be ok... But I have a feeling this is unlikely.

Bad luck mate, just looked at the schematics and it doesn't look hopeful.

What version of MJ are you running? there is a chap on the lowcost builders forum who can flash the chips, I'll try and dig out his details for you.

I have tried flashing it, but had no luck :(

I'm pretty sure the main chip is fried, I believe this chip is no longer available... typical luck

Assuming you're running version 2 or 3 the chip is no-longer available, and it's not a straight swap for the chip used in MJ 4, I've had search (only online) and I can't find an equivalent chip.

It's a long shot but try giving this chap a shout and see if he has any spare chips.

I don't think it will be tasty fried. I would try oven roasting it with some vegetables and olive oil.

pm sent, you can purchase most of the components from maplins or rs components, my adivce would be for someone to bench test it before you go buying stuff

bar the processor chip (68HC908KX8) which is now obsolete, Farnell, RS, Digikey all list them as out of stock and there is no alternative chip :( hence why MJ 4 uses 68HC908QB8.

68HC908KX8 and 68HC908QB8 are very similar spec if you read the data sheet but have different pin wirings so are not interchangeable.
