Hey guys,

Im Edd and I own a MK1 Metro(I know, its not a mini! *tongue*). Its in quite good condition, it had 9300 miles on the clock when I bought it 6 months ago. I also have a MK2 turbo which has alot of rot. The plan is to re-build the turbo lump and put it in the mk1 for some sleeper fun, then when the mk2 shell is finished, swap the engine back and put the mk1 back to standard.

This is the mk2:

I mainly signed up here to get info about re-building the turbo engine. The plan is to tear it right down, get new mains and big end bearings, crosspin diff, lower the compression, intercool it and wind the boost up.

I've never re-built a bottom end before so its going to be a learning curve. I've got the haynes and TBASE and have been reading up but its not answered all my questions. The main one being: I've read that to increase the boost, you can ditch the ecu. How do I go about doing that? Is it really as simple as just leaving it out?

Cheers,
Edd

you may wish to chech the FAQ section and use the search button, dumping the ecu limits you to 4 psi, fit a cheap bleed valve and you can go up to 7 psi, for more you will need to blank of the safety valve in the plenum but more importantly you will need an intercooler!

also, at all costs keep the hydrolic clutch from the mk1 as the mk2 cable is crap

The Mk1 is nice, looks ripe for the sleeper conversion *happy*

Have you lowered it or does in need pumping up??

Also, I'm breaking a couple of MK 2 Metro's if you need any bits (1990 MG and 1989 city x).
