Ive successfully broken everything!

Im not to fussed about the mini, its frustratingly ticking along very slowly, however after 2 years of trouble free motoring the lotus needs new dampers.

I decided to take the opportunity to upgrade, but the springs appear to be currently unavailable

Nic - you haven't got the dreaded "red koni knock have you"? the best option for a road car is a set of dampers off an S2 car - direct replacemen,t the damping and spring rates are a little firmer due to the extra mass of the S2, but not too harsh at all- try the bay or one of the Lotus independants.

Im going to go for the S2 dampers. I wouldnt say the knock is that bad, but ive blown out 2 rear dampers.
Aparently the bilsteins are much much better so thats whats going on


Id just to be able to get them ordered and on by the weekend

AlexB i agree Nitrons are the shit, slightly bias as i use to be development engineer for Nitron. Nic order Eibach springs they are the best

I'm slightly biased towards the Bilsteins (Eibach springs are stock on all S2 Elises) - as I was part of the development team back in 2000, if you don't work in this environment you have no idea the efforts which go into damper/spring tuning, for a company like Lotus this is where all the effort is put into a car right up to and past production start date- hence why some other areas aren't as polished as they should be!

I run Bilsteins and Eibach pro Line springs on the Clio.

You can just keep your foot hard down on really bumpy B roads. Hardly anything can keep up. Also keeps a good standard'ish ride height.

Get my vote.

When mine went on my S1 I just put Konis back on. After reading up and doing some research it seemed the best option and new they were great.

The problem with aftermarket stuff is that they are adjustable so you have to tune them yourself. Buying the konis they are perfectly tuned already by a lotus engineer.
