well after mutch head scratching and renewing parts over the months i still couldnt get the clutch to feel right, it kept getting worse and got to the stage were you would put your foot right down and you could still here the idler chaterring away and couldnt get reverse gear.

the only thing left was to replace the plunger it self and arm

i couldnt get hold of a gen arm so just got a plunger for now.

all fitted and my god what a difference, the clutch bights nicely on mid throw and feels great,

so all of you out there with clutch engament probs just renew this part along with the usaul slave and master cylinders and you should be sorted.

now going for a spin so will let you know how she is.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

I too made a "clutch revelation", I used 5.1 fluid in the clutch hydralics on the race car, it made such a difference with full on shifts.

Just think where the slaves cylinder lives, right next to a hot turbo.

Even though there is heat shielding it made such a difference.

The metro turbo as standard actually has a fibreglass type heat shield between the slave and the turbo, I've only ever seen one (I still have it) though as I'd imagine most got binned, and they only went on the early cars.

There was one on ebay recently I thought about bidding on it TBH but it looked a bit nasty.

Perhaps yours could be used as a template tom?

I seem to remember looking at fitting it and deciding it wasn't worth the bother TBH!

Fair enough :)

If it was a significant problem I'm sure we would have heard more about it before now.

From memory I think it needed lumps cutting out of it to fit in a Mini.

Working up the BHP ladder.

Great advice hogster. The single biggest difference i made personally was fitting the heavy duty Clutch bearing. Same thing feels like a modern clutch now.
