I am just changing the stem seals to see if this stops the burning oil. I was told today on the exhaust to take off the little spring and make a tiny snip around the edge to allow a little oil in. Just want to make sure this is right. Thanks.

and any thoughts on the head, and valves. I know that the valves will need re-seating

There is a train of thought that says you don't need stem seals on the exhaust valve.

If the inlet valve stems leak into the inlet ports then the engine burns oil. Also there's a vacuum in the inlet ports whilst the exhaust is positive pressure.

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

I never fit them on the exhaust & don't specify them on any of my heads either. On a standard engine they're probably ok, but on any kind of tuned Turbo the oil helps keep the valve cool.

If you were snipping them to allow a little oil onto the valve then this would surely contradict the point of having the stem seal there anyway...
