Hi can anyone tell me whether the oil thrower is necessary on a K series? Being a dry belt setup?

Cheers.

Its this plate here:

There are no mechanical parts within the cover, as its a dry belt setup, but just concerned whether it would reduce or prevent any possible oil leakage through the rubber seals?
