motorworks are your best bet for a standard gasket. If you're not going drydeck then you'll have to use a bespoke gasket like the copper specialist components one.

Cheers guys !

Found a set at motorworks, just finding out about the shipping before I order.

Matty I am going drydeck so a standard one should work.

If your dry decking why don't you relocate the studs and use a BK450? Much cheaper if you have to replace a gasket. *wink*

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Minimad that is a option but I want to line up the bore spacing with the head so I think the beemer gasket will work better.
Im also very much in the planning stage at the moment so your opinions and suggestions are much appreciated

I would definately be talking to Sprocket.

His conversion looked almost like it should have come out of the factory. I'm also fairly certain he used the BK450 and regularly tops 8k rpm

I use a BK450 on my 16v, no problems with over 30psi boost.

The BMW gasket is 6cc and only good for max +20 overbore, only if you offset bore the outer cylinders and move the head forward to line all the cylinders up with all the head chambers.

Not so bad using the BMW gasket if you are turbo charging it, but if it NA, you could do with either running flat top pistons or a posative deck hight.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

What bore size are you going to use.

If you line up the bore with the chambers in the head, any available gasket including the BK450 will only be able to take a max +20 bore. Where as, if you were to leave the bore spacing as a normal A series, you can use the bk450, Cometic and Specialist Componets gasket up to a 73.5mm bore

Spox im planning on a 73 mm bore.
My original idea was to use a custom copper gasket but I havent been able to find the right material.
The main reason I wanted to line up the bores is because I was worried that the valve cut-out might come too close to the edge of the piston crown, but all the photos ive looked at of the cut-outs are on +20 or so pistons so I will probaly be ok with the bigger pistons.
So I think I will stick to the standard bore spacing and go with the bk450 and just make sure the cut-outs are perfect.

P.S Is the bk450 the standard turbo gasket ? Sorry for the ignorance but we never got the metty turbo here !
