Can anybody see any reasons why a fuel tank couldnt be made from carbon fiber?

carbon is quite prone to leaking!

This is FORD country, on a quiet day you can hear Vauxhalls rusting.

better off with an atl fuel cell, thats what all the f1 cars use!

made various containers out of carbon, theres always an issue with them leaking!

You could use a normal ally tank and make a carbon cover for it.

I found a website a few months ago - a fella in the States made a carbon fuel tank for his motorbike. He never bothered to line his with a bag, although he did mention it. He also mentioned something about a paintable lining I think.

I have been thinking about this myself, however I have so much other stuff on my plate at the moment, its a plan for the future if anything *wink*

Just found the link again:

Its worth a read :)

POR15 do a tank seal that would probably be suitable, it sealed up my eaky right hand tank (atmitedly at the second attempt)

Why bother?

A pretty pointless pursuit in my opinion

there's too many people about who go for form over function
