I've done a search, but no answers.

In the near future I'm going to replace the roof skin on my clubman. I'll be fitting a full heritage steel skin, so the entire original skin will be coming of.

I plan to make a cross shaped brace accross the roof in 1/2" box section to keep the shell straight when the skin is off. Is this big enough box section? It's what I happen to have already.

Is one length front to back and one side to side enough? They will be welded to the shell and each other.

Where's the best place to weld them to? I was thinking either inside the car level with the gutter seam or underneath welding to the window seams.
