I have some 50mm OD stainless tube I need to bend. It's 1.6mm wall.

What angle Phil if its anything more than 45 then you will need to use a Mandrial Bender but up to 45 fill the pipe with Sand cap both ends I normaly use good gaffer tape and bend very slowly. On 17th Feb, 2009 Rob H said:

Or just buy proper stainless bends and weld them together. 9.85 @ 145mph

Dont bother unless you have a puka bender with wheels that follow the path of the bend, otherwise you will just end up crushing it. Tried the sand thing never worked well enougth. The only method I found to work well was by heating the surface thats being stretched. Own the day

I wouldn't bother Phil it's not worth the agro - particularly if the pipe's short - you'll wreck it.
Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Any stainless steel stockholder will be able to supply bends. They are used in the dairy industry, and pretty cheap really. 9.85 @ 145mph
