if you get a good weld the paint WILL bubble and flake off, id drill and bolt if its already painted, using spreader plates but paint the holes as you do up the bolts to try protect the new metal....

Ah - that pretty much settles it then thanks Alex, it's a Safety Devices bolt in.

the safety devices bolt in cages reqs a plate welded into the floor prior to bolting it in anyway. no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.
