Been looking for a set of perspex or polycarbonate windows, but i only seem to be able to find 4 window kits

I want a five, ie including the rear screen! where should i be looking?

cheers

This is FORD country, on a quiet day you can hear Vauxhalls rusting.

Never seen a full kit tbh, but 'Plastics4performance' seem to be the best place for polycarb windows, supposidly the best fitting and not to bad price wise, the other benifit is they do thermoformed screens so they are easier to fit.

Just buy an 8ft by 4 ft sheet of Lexan in 3 or 4mm thickness and cut it with a DIY type jigsaw...

Worked for me and others on this site at a fraction of the price.

Just make sure you mask it out well so you do not scratch the surface when fitting..

One advantage of the Plastic4performance windows is there are options, tints, uv protection and Improved scratch protection options, you get what you pay for.

My experience is that making your own takes a lot of fiddling. I needed to adjust mine several times. I wish I bought a fabriacted one...

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

I made mine, it did take a little work o get them to fit. But they cost me half what the pre-fabricated ones did. If you're willing to spend a bit of time fettling then its worth making some.

If you haven't got a jigsaw then you could buy one, and it would still work out cheaper then buying the pre-fab ones. Lol

I have found using the glass windows as a templete(obviously) then cutting them a couple of mm smaller works well.

UV protection?..WTF

Yeah I did the same ^^^ although I made mine about 1mm bigger so they would be a tight fit....a little too tight in places! *hehe!*

I'm tempted to have a pop at some home made ones.

How do you attatch the door windows, drille the frame and rivet through? Is that the same way pre cut kits should be fitted aswell?

I guess the rear windows sit in the rubber seal as standard.

Depending on exactlly which plastic you go for, depends how well it can withstand the UV,UV from the bright ball of light in the sky *tongue* can cause some plastics to discolour or can cause them to go brittle. might be something worth considering if you windows are out in teh sun alot, and you plan on keeping the car a few years.

We used the stuff that Jon uses and it is fine in the sun. I am guessing the the UV protection is to protect the ocupants. Normal glass (I think i am right in saying) provides 100% UV protection. If you replace glass with plastic without UV and go driving round on a sunny day then you will get burnt and not know why.
