On my last trip to MED I was offered a Lightweight pre verto flywheel that isn't on the market yet, and as it was the very first one to be made, he offered it to me for a very good price, and said he could skim 15 thou off the lugs to give it more clamping pressure, and my turbo clutch should should be fine, and if not, Min-its do a uprated turbo clutch kit that would bolt straight on and that would definately be fine.

Just thought I'd ask for your opinion before I part with the money :)

Thanks,

James

If it looks a good buy at a good price, then why not? I would:)

Did seem like a good price, £50 less than they will be when they come up for sale. The reason he will nock that off is because it needs finnishing off, like the little burs from machining need filing off, other than that he said its a great flywheel! Looks like thats my mind made up lol, I just he hasn't sold it since last monday :)

Why aren't they just finishing it off and selling it for full price? They will have to finish every other one off before they sell them, so why not this one?

if its the first of a run of flywheels, i'd be carefull and check the dims of it before i parted with any readies, remember a few 0.000" here and there can render it useless, and could potentially ruin other internal components.

i'm not sying anyhting is wrong with it, but if it were me i'd be at least dropping it on a crank tail just to make sure its got at least the correct taper on it,

Are we talking about the new MED Lighweight Verto flywheel as the post heading or a new pre-verto as your first post?

Stephen Hawking - "The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge."

sorry, its verto, I've no idea why i put pre verto. The main reason he will sell it for that price is that I've had quite a few bits off him, and I usually pop down at lunchtime when I'm at college with a friend who also has lots off him. He did say its perfectly fine, but as said above, I'll definately check a few dims before i part with my hard earned!
