Hi,
I need help from the turbo gods!!!

I have almost compleated my first turbo conversion but now im stuck.

I have a standard metro turbo lump with megajolt.

Im having a few problems.

1. the car will not run without the choke on.
even when warm it will not run. if i start to put the choke in the cengine stumbles and dies. even if i only move it in a tiny bit.

2. the revs change on their own,
when the choke is on and the car is idling the revs pick up and even out for a few seconds and then suddenly drops and studders for a few seconds, then picks up again and repeats this over and over and seems to not do it so much when warm and at running temp. it also sounds really lumpy if you listen to the exhaust it pops and bangs a lot.

3.
if i rev the engine there is a weird whizzing sound, i can only guess is the turbo spooling up because when i rev it high and kill the throttle i can hear the wizz get louder and higher pitch and then slowly die down after the revs have died down.
why is it doing this and can i fix it.

i hope youi guys have some ideas for me to try as i am now stumped.

Sounds like you need to adjust the idle mixture, but before you do this check for air leaks on the inlet manifold. also check for air leaks on all blocked hoses, and especially the lean off pipe.

Wizzing could be turbo, usually sound more wizzy if they are worn.

thanks for the advice wil. i will let you know if i find any leaks tomorrow.

the turbo must be very worn then as the whizzing as very loud, can hear it over the engine and dump valve!!

check the dashpot for oil and make sure it rises and falls without sticking.
