Not much has been happening in mk1 land as I am having a little brake from it, just doing little jobs at night after work tonight was fit the rear boot lid and try and get the gaps right.

Also I pulled it out on Friday to give the shed a good dig out as there stuff everywhere.

Well gents, this has happened.

The car is not fully built but the parts left to fit was sat in the footwell. I have 10liters of fuel in it and it fires on the button first time.

Thanks for looking

Well done matey, you hit your sub 500kg target and it doesn't look like Swiss cheese!

I think it really benefits from the pukka mk1 floor and that it's still archless and so standard looking

Well done!

Are you going to run a wiper motor i.e. full road / MOT'd spec?

Thank you mate 👍.

Yes it will have an mot for sure, and be driven as and when I can. There is still some bits that I think could be lighter but it will give me something to do over winter.

Great result Si. As above, it's amazing that it doesn't look like it's been hacked to bits.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

Good work, considering it has a full cage and road lighting, that's impressive.

Thanks everyone 🙃🙂🙃

I still have bits to do before I will bring it out for people to see, and still got stuff to refit.

I was happy with the over all number, but it just made me start to look over everything again and see how it could be made lighter or swapped 😂

But for now it will be setup and tuning and maybe get it to Avon all being well.

With all you have been doing I really expected a LOT lighter than that mate

I seriously doubt it!

I was thinking the same mate, but there is a lot of cage in there. I think i have found 30kg+ I could remove ie all the turbo stuff 😂.

In all seriousness I was shocked it was heavier then I thought and happy it was not over the 500 mark.

I will be going over every part that's not been remade or removed on the Christmas holidays to see where savings can be found. There is some stuff that I know about that I need / want to remake and I know the engine could be lighter in places.

Regards simon

To be honest, you're gonna have to add 50kg to the final figure to account for the balls you have driving this mental thing!

Great to see it back together bud

Lovely build! Should you wish to shed more pounds I think the only really easy route left is to go for one of the MS 5port alloy heads...8.5Kg saved in the blink of an eye.

I also consider the oil cooler to be a personal road / endurance accessory, so these 1.5Kgs do not count! 😎
