Standard is 2.6 to 3.6 thou piston to bore clearance.

I use 4 thou on the racer, but this means it does have a bit of blowby on the racer.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

I can only speak for the 1380 (I actually used the 73mm pistions so am at 1360 but the 73mm and 73.5mm Hypatecs are the same design)

I used 0.06mm (2.4 thou) at the bottom of the skirt which is the top end of the factory spec.

Be careful with factory figures though, they are different top and bottom of the skirt (because the skirt isn't parallel on standard pistons). On the 73mm Hypatechs (at the least the ones I got) they had parallel skirts (in the load plane) most of the way up with reduced diameter ring lands and crown. Hence me quoting the bottom clearance which is the smaller one.

As long as we quote piston size in metric. ie 71.12 etc, it fucking ridiculous to quote clearance in imperial.

In the Ebay listing below it give the clearances for the 73mm pistons about half way down the blurb. How useful this info is though is debateable as the seller is a numpty.

Seems a good price though.

It must be the hot weather......

I can work in either units but metric is so much easier for doing calculations....

And the big Hypatecs are actually "genuine" metric sizes (73mm and 73.5mm).

Now back out in the sun everyone.....
