Does anyone know if A+ rod change guts will go in a remote casing?

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

erm, yes i'm pretty sure it will, with the excepton of the reverse gear, you will have to use the original.

The only problem I see is the remote change is 3 synchro so the selectors might need some fettling.

Id get the idler bearing bored out for A+ too

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

It certainly works the other way around (apart from the reverse idler as Joe says) as I've built two A+ boxes with A internals, but why ???

The A+ internals are the weaker....

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

ah,

i'm sure it wont work with the 3 sync box, iirc the whole gearset is shorter (and diferent) in the 3 sync.

Forgot about that. Was just thinking of something different for the other MK1. Ill just rebuild the 3 synch box then.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

This is completely correct. However, 3sync stuff is of no use.

leeds/wakefield.

from what i know the A plus mainshaft is slightly longer hence the need to grind out the groove in the casting end, so i suspect the A series will go straight in , or is it the other way around, lol.

As far as I know, the only grinding is if fitting an A+ layshaft in an A box. This will need some fettling.

Anyway, to fit an A+ layshaft in an A box, WILL need grinding.

right men ,iv'e been giving this some thought,

when i shoved the diff out the back of the twinnie last year it was an A seies set in an A series rod box, formerly transfered form a remote box, it was a direct swap,
now after the diff misshap i was out of A series rod boxes, so had it fit into a A +, other than bushing the idler for the smaller dia bearing, the case has to be releived in the case where the mainshaft drops into position as the A mainshaft is slightly longer [according to my gearbox man], that is the only mod needed to fit A series set into A+ box, so i'd assume as the A + is a shorted mainshaft it should go straight nito the A series box with no hassle,
i know nothing of what Vegard refers to,, but i'm sure he is correct,
