Great!!!

Box arches, massive 8x13" superlights, and whatever mods you can do to the mill and it'll be one to be pround of!

Or keep it stock!

Cool car :)

There has been a few featured in Retro cars mag over the past few months. I think one had a k-series engine in it or something like that.

Yeah definately!

These are great little things, my dad had them when he was young and reckoned they were great fun. Then again he also used to like Granadas so maybe not the best source of what is good and what isn't....nowadays he has gravitated to ur quattro turbos so I will let him off....

Apparently the engines can be quite prone to blown head gaskets though. I think the engines are 875 or 998cc's (yeah 998 like a min!) They also I believe did an Imp Sport that had a much better cylinder head? I am dredging my head here so don't take anything as gospel.
Also the front suspension as std is rubbish as it has very long front arms that pivot almost in the centre of the car, that gives horrendous camber change on bump/rebound, but can be modified to make it better quite easily.

Check out www.impspeed.co.uk, they sponsor one of my mates (the orange rawlson on this site).

There are a few specialist Imp classes in the chmpionship I run in, too.

And 125+bhp out of an NA 1100 makes the A series look bobbins (which it is).

the one in the pic is the one i want, it has an 875 engine but the manufacture specs claim a top sepeed of 80mph it has long gears i think, 0-60 takes 25 seconds,
apparantley the complete engine only weighs 75 kg as its all alloy,
if the price doesn't get silly i might just get it

What you forget is that the gearbox is not part of the engine, it's a steel case and weighs sh!t loads.

Still cool car.

never mind, just means more weight over the back wheels, so maybe more grip, or more drifting *tongue*

I used to hillclimb with some Imps, they did big RPM and went like stink!!

Think some used the "Coventry Climax" engine.

in terms of getting power out of smaller capacities the imp engine is far better 875cc sport make 55bhp, best of all you can turbo them! they also rev to stupid numbers upto 10,000rpm is not un heard of. the engine is related to coventry climax engine.
998's can be tuned to 120+ bhp. i think the imp is retro cool, i like the chamois better though. my dad used to havea ginetta G15 which had a 998 in the boot it was a bit of a rocket.

Woah i just did some research on turbucharging an imp and a guy did one using a 998 with renault 5 turbo and 1.75" SU, running 16 psi he made 173bhp and 165lb/ft
