Does anyone know whether it is possible to fit 10x10 wheels if ultra low profile tyres are used with a steering rack limiter http://www.kad-uk.com/accessories.htm

Trying to guage what widest wheel can be fitted without any serious modifications. I have no problem using the steering rack limiter as the steering lock on a mini is pretty damn good to start with anyway.

Also I believe the 10x8s is the limit for rear wheels without doing arch modifications, but is this for low profiles does anybody know?

Thanks.

I doubt that the profile of the tire is the limiting factor here, more the fact of a 10" rim. In order to clear the inner arch etc, you would need at least a zero offset, which would leave you with no wing left after cutting it all out I imagine.

Personally I wouldn't fancy trying to drive a mini with 10" wide wheels at the front, my old car ran 17*10 all round, and would tramline terribly befire I reduced the fron tire size.

Also I cant see you getting road tyres for a 10" rim, unless you go for some extreme stretch on a Yoko!

I don't know of any road legal tyre that fit a wheel of that width! TBH I think it would ruin the handling.

But not any tyres. What do you think would be the limit? 10x8?

I think 6" is the limit for road tyres, 7's if for slicks only IMO

I'm sure that link has been on here before, at $1000 plus shipping for a set of 4, plus the questions over whether they'd take the forces of a slick shod Mini on tarmac, I'm not sure I'd bother.

I doubt those rims would be deemed road worthy?

10*8 I think is the maximum you caould stretch a normal tyre on to. Dont get too hung up on having the widest possble, it can really ruin the feel of a car.

leeds/wakefield.

forget the width, look at the rim design, you wouldn't get any propriatorty disk set up under inside the rim, unless it fit inside a 7" dia,

I have 9 x 10 rims.
I can get Dunlop Special wheels for these - they are 8 x 10s but they can be used up to 9inch width. . ..

my thought is why... no tyre company makes over a 165 for 10's which are road legal and rated over 60mph, imo it would look silly fair enough if its just for drag but on the road =/

i think a few people are running wider with 032's and no problems
