Hello all

I think i may have a problem with my carb, i have followed turbodaves info on the carb connections,
and i have found if i block off pipe 4 in turbodaves link which is for the float chamber vent solenoid i am unable to fire the engine up, but if i leave it open the engine starts and runs perfect, but if i go to block the pipe whlist running the engine dies.

So was wondering if anyone had expierenced this or may have a solution.

many thanks

matt

cheers for the quick reply,

Well i brought the gaskets from avonbar when i had the plenum modified for the aftermarket dump valve, so i assume they are the right ones. But if i seperate the plenum from the carb what should i be looking for and why would this be stopping the engine from running?

cheers

matt

well you can put the gasket on the wrong way round. your basically looking for a hole in both carb and plenum, but which is blocked by the gasket, there is pics if you do a search, its a common enough thing.

It could be a faulty jet

Dont suppose there is an easy way of proving the faulty jet theory without stripping down the carb?

cheers

is there any fuel coming out of the pipe?

Basically to much fuel fills the bowl and it will only run with it open

Is the jet your running a std one or an 'uprated' one

actually its not a jet, its a needle valve

Nic there is no fuel coming out of the pipe where the solenoid valve would be, the engine is an unknown to me, the guy i brought it from had some work done to it. but went to change the needle for the 8 psi one from avonbar BDD i think and it already had one in it not sure if that is standard or not.

Well i have taken the carb off and seperated the plenum from the carb and checked for what Evolotion was on about a blocked hole, i have noticed there are 5 holes in the mating face on the plenum but only 4 punched holes in the gasket which i got from avonbar, so should i cut the gasket to see if there is a fifth hole in the carb?

And would this solve the problem?

cheers matt
