I'm helping someone by making a frame to mount some bench seats in the back of a Van for his kids.

I don't have the van here however. Basically, I'm looking for a nice hi-res picture of the inside of the van floor so I can start to figure out the best place for this seat, AND where to mount it to the floor (advice / pointers here would also be useful - like where is/isn't accesible).

I know there are a few van folks here - so hopefully someone can help!

my emal is dave@sheepspeed.com

Cheers

That's usefull - gives me a nice plan view of the load bed.

Still could do with a few pics however.

I'm basically planning on a frame that is bolted to the floor over a wide area. This will mean that few bolts are needed, maybe even just four.

Russ - can you get me a pic?

er, what ever way you are thinking of fitting rear seats, even as just flip up temprary seats you are going to have to cut the load bed. my front seats actually touch the load bed.

what information are you after? load bed to floor pan height? heal pan to front edge of load bed? width?

what angle photos are you after? i can take some tonight when i get home.

i can get you some pictures of a clubman estates rear load and seat area, so you can see the difference between a van and estates floor etc.

if that would help?

Russ, you are right - I would need to drill holes, so yes I'm technically cutting the bed LOL!

Remember these are for Kids, I was kinda thinking that the seat is mounted, such that the top of the seat base, is around 8" off the load bed. It is then positioned far enough back to allow the legs to simply lay forwards, on the bed.

I don't want to cut a 'hole' in the bed or anything like that.

dave , i was thinking of doing the same sort of thing in my van , as said before you could make it like the trav but would mean cutting the floor away.

i was looking at putting the seat up like your saying , but was worried about the legs ,and if it would pass say mot standard ?
if you do find a way round it let me know as the misses would like to come to *laughing* just me and my little one at mo .....

ok Dave i have taken some photos with some crap in the back of the van and have uploaded them to this site, unfortunatly i dont do computers and cant link them!

i took a tape meassure out with me and can tell you the space between the two rear shock mounts is 920mm and the height of the roof at that point is 910mm.

one thought i had is that leg room depends on the size of child and that leg room will change as they get older, so maybe fitting a seat that goes between the shocks and is on sliders to allow more boot space or more leg room

Edit.....email sent!

just stick a set of transit passenger seats on the back dave, 4 bolts, and they come complete with seatbelts.
