Hi there,
after being a lurker on this forum for a bit you have made me want to get my mini on the road again after 7 years :)

as luck would have it when i moved last time i still had a cutout mg turbo engine that i kept so thought it may be the ideal engine to rebuild up for the shows this year, when i stripped it down most of it was worthless but the crankshaft was the parrt that confuses me as technically it has 2 numbers on it as you can see in the pic.

any ideas on what one i should think it is? all help is appreciated *happy*

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

the letter underneath 6232 denotes a standard metro crank these are bullet proof, anyway the over casting number is 6581 and this number denotes the high spec crank from the early turbo engines

i suspect that it could be this crank the high spec meterial one, never seen this before

Strange. It looks like it has 6232 and 6581 cast into it.

Either way, it is a turbo crank and will be fine to use.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

thank you for your (very fast) replies *happy*

i thought that the casting marks were a tad odd as well so i thought i would ask.

will stick up a build thread at some point even though i have only dismantled 2 engines so far that i have had for years, the 2nd was a nice suprise when i cracked it open.

cheers again

sid :)

WOW, that's seriously strange... So, what does this add to the Turbo crank vs std crank debate???

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Probably just means the Turbo 6581 crank is a hardened 6232 crank

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
