after stripping down this engine as well to see if it would make a nice turbo engine i cant find a makers name on these pistons, i wonder if anyone could help id them and more importnantly say if they are suitable for a turbo engine.

there is a set of holes under the oil ring and i cant say i have seen this before, would this have been original or something someone has done do you recon?

and if it helps the rod it was attached to:

cheers in advance :)

It's a 1275GT or late 'S' piston, 9.7 CR. The ring sizes are 2x0.0625" and 1x0.1562.

now that is a definate awnser if i ever heard one, cheers for that *happy*

but the question is will it stand up to a turbo? oh and also on the compression side of thing its stilling about 2.5mm down the bore at the highest point is that normal for a gt/s piston?

Those pistons have definitely been machined to lower the CR in the most stupid way. No, not normal.
Gacin is right on those being S/GT pistons, but they do have a bigger dish from the factory.

cheers for the replys, i dont think they will be going back in anyway as after reading some stories on here i will be putting either accralite's or omeags in i just need to find a machine shop to bore one of the blocks i have, hopefully a new set of pistons will get the bugger up the bore a bit more as well because as it sits if i put a turbo head on it acording to the compression calculator xml that someone linked i would have something silly like a 7:1 compression (the original engine was higher as the head was skimmed to death on it)

so the plan is coming together for my build *happy*
