Well there was a thread a while back on bike carbs and superchargers.. I know the general feeling about suck through setups but I like mine...

I decided to try a bike carb as I liked the idea of the split circuits and the fact you can jet these + the fact that you loose the oil in the dash pot..

crap phone vid below

going to get the wide band on it I have some jets ready to try plus you can move the needle via and E clip...

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

That looks good, out of interest what bike carb is that (size) as i was looking into bike carbs for the kit im getting from ben for the missus car(its still in the post!! it got sent via seamail instead of airmail *frown* still 2 months down only a maximum of 4 weeks left now:) ) the reason i ask ive got an opportunity to buy a 48mm slatslide carb of a mate and was wondering if this may be a good start. (engine is an +40 1100)

48 is overkill, you should look for a 42 one, plenty availables from harley davidsons owners as they are replcing them with "perf" carbs
these carbs are keihin cv's then you have the choice of hsr 42/45 but , they're pricey.

Nope. Yorkshire Dales. Did the three peaks yesterday and I'm properly broken!

Had a letter from parcel farce today. My manifolds will be here in a few days *happy*

Looking good as always Graham. Will be interesting to see what difference it's made to the power.

I'm going to use the suck through for a year or two while I build something big, supercharged and blow through.

Are they any good? What sort of PSi will it run and how efficient are they?

yeah theyre good, but they are a bit too big really! as for efficiency, they pump 1 litre of air every revolution. which means about 15-20psi.

I'm thinking about building a blow through s/c for my next engine, running 18+ psi so that might be more up to they job I have in mind.

SCStu why did you go for twins just to get the flow and fuel for 18PSI?

because i was running it on a single hif44 previously and found problems with the carb and the inlet pipe icing up. plus the engine would get quite hot.

so i though the blower was trying to suck more air in than the carb and pipe could deliver, thus effectively choking the engine of air and stalling the blower.

so my ingenius plan is to go from 1 44mm inlet and carb to 2x 40mm to open up the airflow and give the blower the air it needs. fuel delivery isnt a problem, it was air delivery!

imagine getting a single straw and sucking as hard as you can through it.

then add another straw and do the same. you struggle less! thats my theory anyway. it should get lots more bananas out of it and probably blow it up!

mm I think the shorter inlet will help.

my AUS kit doesn't ice but gets very cold but my kit has a very short inlet.

I also only run 10 psi at max RPM and I dont run the car during the winter..

are you going to shield the float bowls? also very interested in your choke connection I have made one but it could be better.

yeah. hopefully the heat from the blower should keep the pipe from icing. i dont run the car in winter either, i'm too scared i'd kill myself!

how you mean shield the float bowls?? what for? the choke was easy as it already has a sliding choke mechanism on the carbs. i just spot welded a std mini hs4 cable connector onto the sliding bracket and voila!!

My carb hangs over the end of the exhaust manifold so at long periods of idle could get hot.. however my car as always started and never suffered in the 44. I may knock something up just in case.
