Borrow a spot welder would be my advice, super neat job, and a fraction of the time it will take you any other method.

As your only fitting half wings, it should be easy to just put some nice slugs on the inside.

Aaaarrrrggghhh - I've just taken two A panels off and one was fitted this way by someone who hadn't used a spot welder....

What a mess - it took over an hour with an angle grinder and die grinder to avoid wrecking the A pillar itself.

The other side (original factory three spot welds) took about 5 minutes.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

If youre fitting a flip front i suggest fiiting a brace bar from the inner wing to a panel. I did it this time around and its excellent! A gorrila could swing off em!

That's a bit worrying. I never welded my A panel ends on my A panels. Will that be an issue??

I folded the edges over nice and tight using a door skining tool.

Rob.

Plug welded mine on the van with about 8 plugs per side but was a bit of pain doing all the grinding back afterwards as it's a bit fiddly. Luckily, didn't have to do too much as the seam cover goes on top.

If I had to do it again, I'd borrow a spot welder.

Also recommend you replicate the factory mig / gas welded little L shape piece, one each side, that goes at the bottom of each A Panel / wing joint. This'll stop the joint flexing and cracking.

Must admit - I dont like the idea of welding from behind but each to their own.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
