Mr Elder send me a mail..

as the subject heading..

he now makes a 7 port as well as a 8 port head that will fit with no mods and the normal cams..

price.. not cheap (3295 Aus$ complete with valves, keepers and all that.including shipping), but compared to a Arden way cheaper and a lot less involved. head not as modern and F1 ish like the BMW 16v heads. but as far as bolt on mods go..pretty nifty.

and about half the weight of a caaaist IRN head

NA 8 port reported to dyno at 165BHP (engine dyno not RR) for a full race version.

but a 7 port could be good if you are fabrication challenged: EFI in the front. mirage manifold on the back.. nigh on bolt on.

That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system

Interesting development,

did MED even get an 8 port ready that could be bolted straight on?

As i emailed MED when i first heard about it, and they said it was still to be tested due to other work loads.

they only got as far as prototypes, which seems strange as it looks IDENTICAL to the elder 8 port.

A mate of mine bought one of the 8 port prototype heads off MED.

MED are on with an alloy 7 port head too.

They told him the reason why they would sell the 8 port was because it was no more powerful than the 7 port and required extra bits making like a manifold etc

Sorry Carl.

I was reffering to mini_surfari when he mentioned the MED 8 port that could be bolted straight on.

My mate bought one of the 'bolt on 8 port' prototypes (which has turned into being not quite 'bolt on').

MED said that the reason they decided to ditch the 8 port idea was because the alloy 7 port they are producing wasn't far behind it performance wise and the extra outlay for other bits like an expensive manifold made it not worth selling it (this is what I was told) as the 7-port uses a standard manifold.

p.s. The MED 8-port above isn't a true 8-port and is VERY similar to the Elder 8-port from Oz.

I fail to see whats not "real" 8 port with this head. Sure its got a different valve setup, but it still have got 8 ports, right? :)

Its the same with the 16V heads, some of them have got on inlet and one exhaust valve each side instead of being both inlets on one side, but they are still 16V heads
