hi, im collecting a metro 4 pot brake setup today. its the solid disc type. are these the same discs that are used on the standard 8.4 mini disc setup?

also, can the metro brakes be converted to accept vented discs? spoke to my dad briefly, he said something about a spacer?

help apreciated, thanks

I have a set of solid disks with a curious looking spacer between the disc & flange. I was wondering if it was used so that vented disks/calipers can be used?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

There are three versions of the Metro 4 pot calliper the first, made of two cast halves for the solid disc. The second uses the same castings for the solid disc application with spacers to allow for the use of vented disc's. The third type use lagrer castings that do away with the need for the spacer.

So. It is probably the case that you have the third type of calliper therefore requiring this spacer. Never come across a set-up like that but if it works carry on. Atleast it seems you have the option of what disc to use.

so if its the first type, spacers can be used and also vented discs?

all types will accept vented discs (1st with some work)?

To be honest I don't use them and don't plan on using them.

Just don`t try to shave down the later vented type caliper halves expecting to make them non-vented,,, the fluid cross-over drillings don`t line up.

& no, don`t ask me how i know this, you may as well ask me about 35deg ign timing on turbo engines *smiley*
