... getting a car ready to paint is the most annoying and painful part. All the rubbing down by hand... *angry*. Suppose it will be worth it tho, blue with a white roof cant wait.

Anybody got any tips on how to sand down the car? I know you dont have to go back to bare metal, but its seems so boring! *tongue*

DA leaves lots of marks and flats !!

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

when you say by hand, you are using a block arent oyu? without one you wil get finger lines in the paint.....

i have used a electrical sander befroe to rub down a car, i cut strips of wet nd dry to size, fitted them to the sander, then ran the hoseppipe over the roof and while th water was running carefully sanded the roof down. definately not the propper way of doing it, but will be fin for the first couple of grades, final flattening should always be done by hand tho.

Somewhere around Swindon

i think bodywork is one of those tasks i would prefer to leave to pros

i went to college about 14 odd years ago and did a city and guilds in bodywork but if i want a really really good finish i would pay someone to do it, saying that i did all my own body work and it came out pukka

I have always used a d/a to do the hard work and then finish off by hand. Also use a light guide coat of matt black or something similar to find high/low spots.

Doing bodywork is an arse as it just takes so long, but do it properly and you will be dead proud of the result afterwards.
