Hi,

Have recently bought a Metro turbo head, turbo, manifolds etc., etc. to fit on to my 1380 in-line engine in our Minor.

It all looks good and complete, with one exception - the banjo that fits between the inlet manifold and the servo take-off is missing. The servo connection and one-way valve is there, but what does the banjo do and what is it connected to?

I have a Haynes manual, but it is not clear how it is all connected together. Is there a diagram anywhere?

I would like to get at least 130bhp from this, what is required? More boost? Flowed head with less CR? What cam? Ignition I am planning to use MegaSquirt. Assume I will not use the standard 'ECU' at all? Exhaust is currently 2", so should be fine?

All help and comments very gratefully received!

Richard

Yes, I have a servo, but it's the connection below that which is missing. The banjo 'bolt' is there, but no banjo and cannot see what it would connect to and where it goes?

I've just have another look - the banjo is similar to the one the end of the block to oil filter pipe. I have a spare one, now IF I knew what it should be connected to??

T banjo just connects to the manifold,

i have used old oil transfer pipes (from the front of the block to the filter) cut down before, the bolt fits too.

130 brake should be quite acheivable, there a re a few people running 1380 turbos (me included) your main issue will be getting the CR down enough, what pistons are you running, and how big is the dish in them? heads can be taken out to 28cc (or more). really you should be looking to get the CR down to 8.5:1, Benross or turbo Phil on here both do head.

you'll need an intercooler. and boost wise 1 bar should get you to your target.

you wont need the std ECU it just fiddles the boost pressure to ive the gearbox an easier life.

Are you planing on injecting it? so thats a big undertaking, have a read through the injection section, to start with you may want to stick with the SU. you can use the megasquirt to control just the ignition, it will be much better than the Dizzy, but there is also a cheaper cut down version (megajolt) just for ignition, definatly worth a look.

the 2" system will be fine untill you start pushing bigger figures.

Paul,

It's the 'other' Islip, in Oxfordshire, but still not very far away.

Mini13,

Sorry, meant MegaJolt, no injection being planned!! The pistons are Omega 11cc dish, but have been machined down slightly many years ago (by a company that should have known better), so 28cc chamber volume will give 8.5:1 CR with them.

Get the head flowed? I have just taken out a Kent 276, but it is the worse for wear, and I have a reasonably new 266 that I could use, but what cam would be best?

What does the banjo connect to?

The 266 will be fine, infact it's a pretty decent choice.
