Hiya,

Thought i'd sign up as i've heard nothing but good words about you folk!

Currently, I have two minis:

- Mid engined Vauxhall 8v turbo road legal racer (still building)

And my latest acquisition

- A 998 Gayfair (not quite as exciting as the other one I know)

I've actually signed up here for the Mayfair as I wanna keep it A series. I know this is a turbo site, but I wanted to do something a bit different with the engine than the usual 1380, 286 crap.

Although there are no plans to turbo it at the moment (am I still allowed here? :$ ), it could work with the spec really well (if I do it right).

Cheers!

Owen

P.s. I've had a sniff around and there is some really interesting info on here!*happy*

Hi,

I would not say but I have the feeling building a turbo lump is much more demanding than fitting an other engine in.

I stand to be corrected but you always start gently on spec like "Metty turbo lump and i'm done" obviouslu megajolt it, then IC, then home made exhaust, then det kils your engine, then you just have to change pistons and in no time (5 to 8 years) you end end up with a K head under the bench, a gearbox that cost you the price of the vauxhall engineered Mini, all kinds of fancy equipement to have a 13 sec runner ...

Anyway, welcome aboard, there is no pilot on that plane !

Cheers for the welcome guys!

Advantage, you could well be correct! However i'm also rebuilding the vauxhall turbo motor.

If I do decide to turbo the mayfair, it will be a small turbo...
