im going to machine the lugs down on my back plate tonight at work, and after reading several posts i know i need to remove 1.5mm off each, leaving 23.5mm height.
i plan on using the Grey diaphragm but have not purchased this yet, so would it be ok to machine the lugs off an check that my standard spring sits flat, or would i need to wait an get the grey to test this??

thanks guys

Personally, when I did mine, I measured it all with the driven plate and diaphragm assembled first.

The point being you don't know whether the lugs have already had some work on them, or whether the backplate or rear of the flywheel have been re-faced, all of which could make a difference.

Unless you are using all brand new parts...... Even then, there are machining and manufacturing tolerences to take into account.

It all depends on how accurate you want the "flat" spring to be.

BTW, if you haven't picked it up in the other posts, when you machine the lugs, the counterbore that the retaining bolt enters gets reduced in depth - when you assemble it all, make sure the three bolts are not bottoming out on their shoulder before they have properly clamped the drive straps and diagphram plate, mine were very close to doing so.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???
