Am I correct in thinking that the only difference between the Mk1 and Mk2 metro turbo engine set-ups is the case hardened crank in the Mk1 not in the Mk2 and the fuel pump resistor fitted to the Mk1 & not to the mark 2?

I pressume the the rest of the parts are the same across early and later models in respect to piston's, cam shaft, inlet and exhaust valves & gearbox?

I know my mk1 engine had a seprate ignition module for the dizzy mounted on the electric fan housing as opposed to the integrated noe on the later dizzys.

Internally, I've no idea

I think it was pre 85 or 86 that had the different crank. From various other comments, it doesn't make any difference. Never had one personally.

When did they change to the non-grooved bottom main bearing shells ???

The Metro A+ I've built has the grooved bottom shell but it may well be before the turbo derivative came out.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Both my engines have the non groved bearings in them cant decided whats better with or without.

This engine has the inertia type starter which leeds me to think its the ealy type and hydraulic clutch.

Fuel pump resistor is fitted to all metro turbos.
