Hi there,

I have a question about my setup, hope someone can help me out here.

I have a non verto fully lightened flywheel with pre-engaged starter ring and a grey diaphram and racing plate (avonbar hotek kit). The plunger is also a pre verto one as well as the release bearing.

On the outside I have the verto clutch slave cilinder and bracket. There is no play in de pivot points but I can't seem to disengage the clutch (enough) to shift gear. It only moves the plunger 4 mm io the 6 mm.
I also notice that the bracket does flex considarable.

I have read somewhere that the non-verto clutch cilinder has a smaller diameter and has so more travel of the piston. Will swapping to this non verto clutch solve my problem?

fyi the id of the verto clutch slave cilinder is 22 mm.

Cheers,
Bas

yep, you need to swap to a long clutch arm and a non verto slave. then you should get a lot more movement via the longer arm (pivots and all that)

Is that right Ian. I run the whole non-verto set-up with the exception of the slave cylinder, which is the later verto type. I've always thought that the later type had a larger bore than the non-verto and I've asked the question many times and never got an answer.

Anyway, it's never stopped me changing gear but it's not brilliant. It's on the list of things to change over the winter.

Cheers

According to minimania the cylinder bore size of the pre verto clutch slave is 7/8 inch (about 22.2 mm). That is the same size as the verto clutch slave!!??

Mmmm, maybe the leverage of the arms (verto or pre verto) makes the difference. Or maybe the solid mounting on the clutch housing so there is no flexing of the bracket.

I will get there *smiley*

Thats what i was always lead to believe. that you couldnt get enough movement if you mixed and matched.

Maybe if its not adjusted very well then it causes problems whereas you can get away with more if using the correct set of bits?

not sure, something ive not really played with. i just tend to match everything up *smiley*
