I belive the MPI has a close ratio gearset,

i think the 1300gt came witha close ratio gearset too, if it did the lay gear will be marked 22g1040.

esentially theres not much point.

GREAT MOD!! It's extremely easy as all the GT bits will fit straight into the A+ casing.

what difference would be noticed with the cr gearset?

would it make that much difference?

hopefully will be using a 1360 engine, around 80-90 bhp

The only real benefit is a stronger gearset.
Its not a straight swap though. The centre main web needs relieving to make clearance for putting in the main shaft.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

as Paul stronger gearset,
though, the clearance will depend which 1275gt gearset you have, the older14mm input shaft will need as the main shaft is longer, if it is the later 18mm input the main shaft is the same as an A+, so will fit straight.

Please elaborate? I've fitted several A gearsets in A+ boxes and have never relieved anything.

The best with this conversion is not the stronger gears but the closer ratios. The A+ ratios are junk for a modified car, including forced induction ones.

Ive had to relieve the case a few times to do it, I believe Fastcarl did too.
I dont know about the Mpi ratios but it was quoted earlier theyre similar

Veg just read:
as said, depend which gearset you have, their is two possiblilitys, earlier have 14mm input shaft inner bearing with lond main shaft which need casing mod to fit, later gearset have 18mm input gear bearing with short (A+) main shaft,
then their is NO benefit over mpi gearset which is already a close ration (gt/s type ) one.
Appart from the fact that it is much stronger (then I should shut this as they are already a pain to source), than the later a+ one, I run one from over one year whith regularly, 15/18 psi, and it continu to go just fine, Jukka did use this gearset too, and some racing guys use it when straight cut aren't allowed

Ah, at the first motion shaft end.. Yes, possibly.

I've rebuilt some Mpi boxes, and none have been CR. I believe this is bollox. Imagine how tall 1st would be if this was the case.

No vegard it isn't possible, it's for SURE.
then the mpi gearset, although the ones I have ( perhaps they made a special danish one ??? *happy*) are close ratio
