I'm thinking ahead (or day dreaming, depending on how you look at it). Looking at car covers for when I eventually get my shell finished and painted and need to work on other cars in the garage.

Just wondering what people used to protect their cars from grinder/welder spatter.

Im in the same boat, with my clubby estate on the drive.

At the moment its got a green car cover, i think its from argos.... it does the job, but as its not specifically for the car its a bit baggy so to speak, so the wind gets under it and it can lift off, so ive got straps running over the top.

Welding spatter etc doesnt seem to affect it in anyway, so it survives, just a pain in the asre with the straps going over it lol.

I got a few soft covers from Tesco a while back when they were reduced - can't recall if they are waterproof or not but I use it indoors to good efect for protection from dust, sparks etc

Stoke-on-Trent. Duck.

I'm eyeing up one of the indoor covers from these guys; http://www.carcoverzone.co.uk/rover-see-al...-c-68_1019.html

£45 inc VAT seems pretty good for a Mini-specific cover to protect a £££ paint job from various mountain bikes and lawn mowers! They're a little pricey for outdoors (£63-£120), but reading the burble it does sound like they should be up to the job?

If and when I get it (waiting the 3-months for the paintjob to settle/ harden and stop releasing toxins, etc!) I'll re-post to let you know how it is...

Pottsy.

edit: just found a "new" £183 indoor-only cover they do too! That's a bit steep, even if they do colour coordinate it. http://www.carcoverzone.co.uk/soft-stretch...oon-p-4122.html

We use the monsoon version, saloon, clubby and clubby estate (and audi!).
Good covers but they don't last forever, and they will not like hot sparks / metal landing on them, they melt!

Here for the craic..

Working up the BHP ladder.

Minispares do a custom fit cover. Bit pricey bu very well made and lined. Took good care of mine through the snow and ice.

Yeah as 1380turbo says the minispares one in excellent but pricey. When I brought mine it was over £100. What I'd do if I where you was use some soft dust sheets to be soft against the paintwork and then use a tarp over this to hopefully protect it from sparks. Use some cheap rachet straps to tie it all down. Thats what I do to mine in the garage as it's a whole load cheaper than spending a fortune on a tailored cover.
