I'm thinking of the oil return, I have welded a pipe onto a fuel pump blanking plate so I have a short bit of 90 degrees hose with two jubilee clips. I need to take it all off and I can manage it OK but is it possible to conect up your oil return without pulling the engine? Any tips? I have a banjo fitting on the turbo thats fouling the block so the manifold won't sit right and it's blowing at the head, hence it has to come off again*oh well*.

Thanks guys.

I can do mine pretty easy mate. I hold the manifold/turbo and slot it onto the oil drain first, then bolt it up to the head etc.

OK, I can reach both clips on the oil retun hose so I can get it off, it's getting the hose on the drain on the turbo that I am worried about. What about taking the plate off?

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i've managed a few times.

mines also on cap head bolts rather than studs which makes it even easier, as does sloting the inlet manifold so it just slips off

Get a long screw driver and go in from near the rad if you can, make sure you set up the jubilee clips so that they are facing a convenient direction

Actually I copied your return set up so if it works or you! I'm now stuck with getting the exhaust flange and downpipe joint undone, that plus it's raining so I have given up for the day. *oh well*

Leave the flange on and just undo it so you pull the turbo up out of the down pipe

That's actually my problem, being paranoid of leaks I used a bit of exhaust cement and with my pithy weakness I can't get the elbow off the downpipe. I will try again and see!

Well that made master cylinder clevis pins look easy! Got it done but the biggest problem is my oil return, there's not enough hose to slip over the return pipe so the clip moves and then it won't seal. For some reason I had a blow at the bottom of the manifold/head. I think the banjo on the turbo was fouling the block so I swapped that over and I hope it solves it!

It's a strange one, I used the stock R5GT banjos and I knew it was tight but I thought it would be OK. When I got it running it was blowing quite a bit and I noticed black stuff runing down the back of the block form the manifold face. I have a new banjo on, everything clears but I'm not sure it's solved the problem, I will have to wait till I get it running. I do NOT want to have to do that again anytime soon!
