Some of you know that I made a single run at Avon in the 998 Turbo and then parked it in disgust. 19.55 seconds *frown*

This was on 7-8psig boost and a rev limit set at 6000rpm. Also 2.95 diff. Built for MPG rather than quarter miles.

Having only fitted the turbo last weekend and only a few hours mapping the fueling with a very safe ignition curve, I suppose it was to be expected, but I had hoped for much, much better.

When I actually analysed my timing figures it was obvious that it was a poor start and mid track but going well in third gear to the line.

So, I compiled data from the other Avon post and found some interesting correlation to the data for times between the 990ft and 1320ft points. Almost a linear trend of the points posted for everyone except my poor attempt.

So I must remember to actually put my foot down next time :$

Going by the trend, I should be able to wring a 17 second quarter from it.

Considering the car is still being developed I think that's a good time.

You'll be back next year and it will be flying!

Did you increase your boost every run too?

The main objective for the last month or so was to get it to Avon with the Turbo fitted, run it up the strip and get it back home in piece.

So, mission accomplished in a way.

I'm encouraged that cars with a similar power output, 90-100hp, were doing the same sort of time in the 990-1320ft part of the track.

I didn't really push the car until we were just a few miles from home. Top speed is about 20mph higher with the turbo fitted *happy* So, the power is there.

The plan is to let Sturgeo drive it at MitP. He's far less mechanically sympathetic than I am, so will probably get more out of it. If he breaks it, then it only a few miles to tow it home.

Problem is that I'm away for the next three weekends, that only leaves one weekend to do a bit more fuel mapping and improve the ignition map as well.

I'd be very interested in some more ETs and 990-1320 times.

My pre a plus n/a 998 clubman did this with me behind the wheel:

60 - 2.679
330 - 7.793
660 - 12.146
MPH1 - 56.49
990 - 15.826
1320 - 19.206
MPH2 - 68.54

John (Minimadmotorman) managed to get an 18.7 in it (slip is still in the car somewhere). He weighs about 1.5 stone less than me.

These runs where with the car fully stripped. I managed a 19.5 and he did it in 19.1 with it full weight.

Well my 60ft was a 3.15 because I just grannied of the line worrying about damging the verto clutch.

But my 990-1320 was 3.1 against your 3.4.

It might be worth putting the new clutch in before letting me have a go *happy*

I had the benefit of a pre verto clutch and not really giving a s**t if I blow it up *smiley*

Not sure what diff is in my car, it seems to fly of the line but then loose out further up the rev range.

You have a 3.6 or 3.76 in there I reckon.

Same objective as me, my mini lasted a 150 mile round trip, and 2 runs up the strip, the times were piss poor, but i have learnt alot about the car and what i need to change.. i had fuelling issues under full load in 3rd and 4th so both runs i had to back off and coast over the line.

Only good point was that my 60ft times were good for a first attempt (2.4)

Bugger Bugger Bugger - I didnt realise you were at Avon Paul, I only came on the Sunday sadly not in my mini.

I would have been particularly keen to have a nose around your car/injection setup!

I'm sure I can wait till Mini in the Park....
