There is a test station across the road from my house, but I don't like to use them as I've found them lazy and pedantic in the past.

My preferred test station is actually 50 miles away. Is that too far away to take a car with no current MOT?

Thanks

As long as you have an apointment I can't imagine an issue... I don't think there is any guidelines stating distance ti the mot station... the one I use use is 20+ miles from home

I'm going to test Minimadmotorman's yellow mini for him at my local test station while he is on holiday. I'm towing it accross tonight so that I don't have to risk driving a distance.

I'm pretty sure **some** police offers would say use the nearest MOT station, as you car could be dangerous. However, I'm sure your car will be safe....

50 miles is a long way to go, surely there must be somewhere else locally you can build up a relationship with?

i would say as long as its booked in then anywhere is fine. 50 miles is a bit far though surely????

I used to think travelled to the other side of Swindon (about 8 miles) was a bit anal... so i moved closer lol

Yes it is a trek. It's the garage that did the bodywork on the traveller originally, and they are more likely to look favourably on their past work. They will do it on a saturday as well, unlike the one across the road from me.

It's only 2 minutes from my parents house, so my Dad can pick the car up and we can go into Cleethorpes for some decent fish and chips :)

So you're going on 2 motorways or a whole load of back roads to get to the test centre...

If I was a police officer I would probably see that as taking the piss. From their point of view, you don't like the closest one to you, so you use the next closest one....

Fair point, I probably would too. This is assuming I get stopped.

I haven't decided whether to do it, I just wondered if it was an option. Appreciate the comments though.

The only real thing to watch for is the ANPR cameras.

The chances of getting stopped by an actual police car for any other reason is probably pretty slim

202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

As far as I can see they were all booked up on the date you were able to make an appointment so you had no choice. *smiley*

Own the day

if its a pretty standard mini just take it to the one over the road. check it over first to see if itll fail.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.
