Hi,

I've noticed there are a few MG Midget owners on here and I just wondered if anyone knew what is the best 1/4 mile times recorded for any MG Midget (excluding silhouette type cars) but pretty much any other modifications allowed (Turbos / engine swaps) but retaining the central 'core' of the steel body.

Sorry for the Non Mini question *happy*

Cheers

Just had to go check in the garage that my car hadn't morphed into a midget...

probably wouldnt be a bad thing, unless it was a circus midget that smelt of cabbage.

Managed a 14.6 with 96 mph terminal at Avon, but wrong tyre pressures/cold tyres. The diff that kept breaking was a phantom grip-kept breaking the roll pin, letting the cross shaft escape!Tran-x now which was great at Avon.

Thanks for the replies,

Steve1275,

Is the TranX a ramp and plate diff, do you use 3.9 cwp?

Do you know the weight, hp and torque of your car?

I assume you are running 175ish width road tyres

Sorry for all the questions

Cheers

The TranX is as you say.I'm using a 4.2 cwp,but with 14 in wheels tyres are 165/65.Power is around 160bhp,torque 150 ft.lbf.Weight is about 700kg

Cheers Steve,

Do you think that the 14.6 is as quick as a your set up will go or is it early days? As I'm just trying to gauge what sort of power would be required for a high 12 low 13.

As always it's the traction aspect that's difficult to gauge but I would have thought an LSD equipped RWD car (tyres permitting) would be a good starting point compared to a FWD car.

What would a similar engine spec (160 hp / 150 lbs.ft) do in a road trim Mini? I guess a road trim Mini would be 650 kg ish? Also if on 10's they would also be 165 width tyres as well.

Cheers

I'm a novice at this,so my times must be quite slow.Amidget will take 185 width tyres with spacers,so traction will not be a problem then.Maybe 200bhp to get into the 12s?
