is it true that hitting the rev limeter in a turbo'd car is bad for the turbo?
if this is true, could ome1 explain y?

its bad cos your presure on it cos your running it at its peak its alright in short spells but thats the way to fuck it

Rev limiters fit onto the coil and mess about with the sparks dont they?

I guess a miss timed spart could be deadly at high boost, just like running to advanced, pinking then meltdown.

Not sure how it would affect the turbo, unless it got loads of unburned fuel in the turbine when the sparks cut, boom and flames out ure exhaust, but bad for the turbine

Its normally not considered good for turbos...

the reason is rev limiting is usually done by cutting the sparks. This however leaves lots of fuel going into the cylinders and then st8 out into the turbo with is very hot at full load!! It then burns in the turbo and hence the problem.

More modern rev limits cut the fueling 1st to slove this.

As our cars have nither fuel injection nor rev limiters its not really a problem we face!!!
