Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Well, i sold the midget the other week. I had some fun in it blasting round the lanes but fancied a change.

Saw an unfinished project on 16v mini club and ebay that i thought looked very interesting. after a chat i decided to go for it. Picked it up today! will get some up to date pics but here are the ones from ebay etc *smiley*

Really pleased with it and its pretty much ready to go on the road bar minor bits and bobs. will get it sorted and also having a blitz on the turbo over the next few weeks.

Came back with it from Stoke today if anyone saw a orange mini on a trailer!! *happy*

text from ebay:

"it has been built up by using a rust free shell it has had the rear seat base and the rear pockets removed,
boot floor removed and replaced with carbon fiber . also the boot lid is carbon fiber .the front doors have had alley
door skins and the internals removed and cut out the glass has been replaced with perspex.
the front has been converted to a clubman front to take the vauxhall engine
it is removeable steel front end . the front subframe was made by zcars to take the engine , it has had a full roll cage
welded in and the steering coloum moved back so you sit further back in the car and lower
all the brake pipes are braided pipes
one off exhaust manifold made of stainless steel the rest of the exhaust is a maniflow system
silicon water hoses
all the brakes are all new all round with 4 pot alloy calipers with vented disks and alloy minifins rear drums
monaco seats with 6 point harness
it needs rear coilovers to match the front the engine has been running with carbs and dissy but removed to fit throttle bodys and a and a ecu
i dont have the carbs to refit or the throttle bodys "

Also have a set of QED direct to head TBi's on the way, and am getting my Emerald ecu upgraded to K3 to run on this for a while, going to use a megajolt V4 on the turbo short term until i can afford another emerald.

Get the bonnet to close properly, it ruins the whole car.

After that sell it!!

Seriously though, looks fantastic.

got it for 3400 which considering the spend on it i thought was cheap. I've always fancied one to use a bit more often, then still have the turbo to play with as well.

its never been on the road or even out the blokes garage so it wont have been seen about.

Doesnt run yet, although has been but he sol the carbs off it to Fortunately i have some on the way so looking forward to it.

this was the reasons for all the XE questions the other week *happy*

Yeah bonnet is a bit annoying and there are a few bis but on the whole it looks good.

Well it looks nice, I will be interested to see what quarter mile times you can run in it, as I've watched a lot of the Vauxhall engined minis expecting big things, and never really seen anything that great in the times dept.

Tom,

Yeah i'm interested as well. I didnt really buy it to be a full out flying machine, more useable for the summer compared to the miglia been near enough a std production engine/box in it.

Nope, using Emerald and QED direct to head throttle bodies *happy*

tis an itereting one tom,

might be worth whacking a load of balast over the gearbox and seeing if the times improve.

on things for sure though it'll be reliable :)

I still have those bike carbs BTW Iain lol also i found a set of COP coils from a bike that would probably fit.
