can you guys recall what is looked at for the scruternearing (spelling) of the cars before they can run?

All i can seem to remember is that you have to have oil and rad catch tanks, soild battery bracket???

there must be more?

no leaks of anykind
battery solidly mounted
seat soildly mounted
correct tyres if in roadgoing class

That's all I was checked for-clothing was separate and quite strict.

'Where does the engine go?'

They had a quick look over my car, checking the above. They also pushed the pedals, I'm assuming to make sure they didn't fall of.... As it's pretty much standard road car they weren't interested.

I saw them scruitenering the don. They where grumbling about rubber fuel hoses and proximity to the exhaust (carbon fibre back box...)

I guess the car needs to look roadowrth and things like windows, seats and belts need to be good.

EDIT: they didn't look underneath mine (parked next to a puddle ). Good job really as it leaks oil a little when it's not running.

Also, if you're camping get any mud/grass of your car, in particular wheels, arches and sills, before heading to the strip.

lol the fella was so interested in my catch tank that i had put in for the last few year i don't think he even opened my doors, that' was why i ask lol, thanks fellas! great help.

Just to add to the list, they've always checked my steering wheel/column for play as well.

My car leaks oil too and I've never had a problem there - they're only really bothered if its a pour rather than a drip.

seatbelts and i seen him telling one bloke who had a rwd mini with fuel tank in front he had to tape the holes up in the bulkhead as the firewall is suppost to be sealed off.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

just thinking i better sort my column bushes out and secure my fuel hoses properly.

I dont remember scrutineering this year.

I dont think they even looked inside my car (or smelt my breath)

When I was in Denmark last year., they breathalised everyone before allowing them up the stip.
In some respects...given a weekend event like that, it can be a wise move.

That said....for a long time, my fastest runs were done the morning after, first thing in the morning lol

I reckon so. He seemed like a mini hitler. He was also having ago at a lad about his roll cage saying it was dangerous because it didnt have any padding on it! He never said anything about my car though!

BAC, passed the DON the last two years then started moaning about something this year, he didn't like it when I pointed out he passed it previously, according to him it must have been someone else.
Scrutineers with the high and mighty attitude piss me off, especially when they drive a P reg Laguna with bonnet pins fitted at the front, when the bonnets tilt forwards.....
