Just curious to what people use to monitor charge inlet temps?

TechEdge or Megasquirt - both can read the IAT sensor on the fuel injection. TechEdge can also read any other 5V NTC sensor I might want to add, ie one before the intercooler, or it can read K type thermocouples which are quicker responding.

But that's not what you want to hear - in that respect, those of us doing fuel injection have it easy....

There are stand alone gauges and senders specifically for charge air temperature available but they are pricey. Trying to use something else like a water or oil temperature gauge wouldn't be particularly accurate over the temperature range you want.

Sorry, not much help.....

EDIT - just realised, you don't have to have fuel injection, if you used TechEdge wideband and bought the correct model, the controller will do NTC sensors and thermocouples as well.

The other common systems may have this facility - in fact, re-reading what Fabrice has said, it looks like the Innovate does too. TechEdge however, provides the 5V supply for the sensors, you don't need a seperate one.

I use the DL1 from race technology, maybe a bit of an overkill for most needs, but great bit of kit.

after stevie turbo prompting me to assess the responce times of my open bulb inlet temp thermistor, i would seriously consider a k-type thermocouple with as little thermal mass as possible :) i.e. the twisted wire with a tiny blob at the end type, as sopplied wiht most household thermometers *wink*

I find the AD595 ic is a great thermocouple amplifier to connect a thermocouple to your data loggers normal 5v input

or the sensor one sees in inlet temp reading on some audis etc ,with a buff coloured plastic shroud and a resistor and 2 wires showing in the end ? i imagine they respond pretty fast ?

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

I used a Cosworth sensor on my 205, see link, it has the small bulb temp sensor within a cgae just to give it some mechanical protection

that looks the same as mine tom, and its shit slow., air velocity seem to affect it just as much as air temperature. really should get a thermocouple in there and compare.

I agree with denis tom, I've got one of those mounted about 20mm away from a thermocouple the difference in temp between them is shit loads

thanks guys, a little to fancy for wht I want, just thinking of keeping an eye on temps post and pre Ic next time its on the rollers. I have a thermometer which uses k type thermo couples, and is two chanel, may just use that, but was thinking something small and possible permanant later on, something similar to Matts, T3 tones and Hoggies?
Cheers

It is, just not too pretty to leave in the car long term, but saying that, I need an engine before I have to worry about that, lol.

you could also use it to see how effective your ic is
