Hi

After being on here a while and getting the most helpful information I wanted to do alittle write up on my mini from start to where it is now, and then hopefully what is in stall for it in the next 12 months.

I bought it from Tupmans Minis in Feb 2008 as a bog standard 29000 miler with all MOT's and paperwork.

It was going to be a rolling project but i got carried away and stripped it so heres some pictures.

Thats pretty much how it looks at the moment any way. Running 80 bhp at the flywheel, bit down on power but teh next jobs are:
New cam timing gear and ensure the cam is timed in properly.
Head work, needs to be stage 3/4, not 2 as is at present.
New lcb manifold as i have a freeflow on at present.

And the biggest mistake of all during the 18 months - cutting the headlining before putting the roll cage in!

Let me know your opinions.

Cheers

JOn

Thats spot on mate, really love that.

Only thing i'd change is the filter, and have it standard plastic black, But each to their own :)

Many more plans!?

Lightweight racer coming soon.

Yeah it was Allan Jefferery's, he told me to buy a new cam off of him and to have him fit it .... £800.

So i went to slarks and they sorted everything out for me, made it run 1000 times better.

They arches are group 5!

The next step it to sort the head, manifold and cam timing and hopefully push it up to around 100bhp.

I might then look into lightening before i stick more power in the way or a supercharger!

I.e. fibreglass doors, perspex windows, rear beam etc.

Thanks for the comment.

Cheers

Jon

100hp takes a bit of cam, but I guess you're aware of this. ¨
Also, what is infact the difference between a stage 2 and a stage 3 head??

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Its got a Kent 296 Cam in it already, down on power due to the head and possibly an issue with the cam timing.

From what i gather a stage 3 has larger exhaust outlets.

Please correct me if i am wrong, i wont be doing that myself though. Pay someone who knows what they are doing to do that sort of work.

That Clubman estate with the blowthrough charger set-up wasnt there was it?

He was giving me lots of spiel about big figures at low boost with no cooler about that thing. I lost interest then, think my car will be going somewhere else! when its eventually ready that is!

Few more pictures of the dash as requested.

Bought it from ebay, think it was about £40 so got myself a bargain i think.

On the last picture you can see the infill panels which i made up myself, pretty impressed with how it turned out.

You may also spot the different switches, i really wanted to use the fluck switches as apposed to the standard one but adding up the cost of the relays to wire these up wasnt really worth it.

Cheers
